AquaDams: An Overview Water controlling water to create environmentally friendly temporary dams and diversions. AquaDams® are temporary structures built from water and flexible materials. AquaDams® are lightweight, easy to handle, and can be used in virtually any situation. |
| The protection and objective management of water resources within Australia, the United States, Canada and elsewhere have become significant public issues during the last two decades. Increased importance is being placed upon the conservation, protection and long term beneficial management of environmental assets with the result that more appropriate and sensitive practices by both private and public sectors, are being called for and enforced by regulators and the wider public. This is especially the case in the utilization of fluvial and wetland environments. It is no longer acceptable practice to use temporary earth levees or dams to divert or contain water in waterways or wetlands as these techniques can easily lead to significant degradation of the environment. |

| AquaDams® offer a low-impact environmentally friendly alternative to past practices of building earthen barriers in river systems by digging or trenching with large pieces of heavy equipment, which commonly caused long term damage to local streams, rivers, lakes, and wetlands. There is a growing realization of the importance of water management programs that protect water systems for future use, but also allow present day industrial operations to continue in an economic manner. |
![]() | AquaDams® have been approved by The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Canadian Federal Department of Fisheries and Oceans, the British Columbia Ministry of Environment, the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and the Australian Pipeline Industry Association as a viable, environmentally friendly and acceptable means of diverting or containing water in waterways and wetlands. AquaDams® have been designed to comply with the US Clean Water Act and EPA guidelines Section 404 (40 CFR §230.1) and they also comply with the NSW Clean water EPA guidelines. |
