Step 1: The bottom end of plunge pool needs to be blocked off before
dewatering can start. The starting end of an 8' high Aquadam® is placed
on the bank and water is pumped into it. This will close off the bottom
end of the plunge pool, separating it from the Mokelumne River. Water is
still being pumped into the Aquadam®.
Step 2: Because the water flow has previously been diverted, this installation
was easy. It required nobody to hold back the Aquadam® because no artificial
water head was created against the sides of it. The water depth was 5'.
Step 3: Not shown: Aquadam® continues to unroll and inflates, blocking off
plunge pool from the river. Later, dewatering takes place. The entire project
takes only 10 hours. 4 of those hours were spent placing the stream diversion
flow pipes around the plunge pool.
