Water is diverted to an existing high-flow channel on the river bar. The work area has been isolated for later dewatering. The remaining water is trapped and needs to be pumped out in order for the work area to be dewatered. The work area will be excavated to an area  6' below the riverbed, before the intake pipe gallery laterals can be installed. A large portion of the work area will be used to store excavated material.
