The beam the 8' AquaDam® is rolled up on has broken. A strap is placed
directly behind the rolled up portion of AquaDam®. You can see that the AquaDam®
is not quite lined up with the new boat ramp. This was a mistake! The better
the alignment, the easier the removal.
The AquaDam® is pulled slowly up the boat ramp. The water is being released out
the end. This AquaDam® is 4 ply: 2 ply of grey material and 2 ply of white material.
Each one is a separate tube, and both are the same size in diameter. The white inside
tube is 250' long, the grey tube is 180' long.
The AquaDam® has been slowly pulled up as far as it will go. It is time to start rerolling.
Because the outside material is woven, water can bleed out from between the layers. If water
became trapped between them, this would add significant weight to the AquaDam® when it has
been rerolled.
A new beam was found (a section of telephone pole), and the ends were cut down to
fit the rerolling brackets. The sides of the AquaDam® were folded in to make a more
compact roll. The ends of the forks were covered with duct tape to prevent punctures
in the AquaDam®. The forks are placed under the roll and the slowly raised to help
with the rerolling.
