Before diversion begins, a proper site must be selected. Fill material excavated from the canal earlier made perfect banks to start the AquaDams® on.  
The contractor was required to line the sides and bottom of the diversion channel to prevent erosion. This is the upstream AquaDam®, and it is 4' high by 50' long.    
The protective cover and ropes are removed. Then the open end  is placed higher up the bank than the estimated height of the AquaDam® will be. Workers need to be careful not to let the current carry the AquaDam® downstream.
