Shore Restoration, Kissena Lake,
Page 2 |
Since all of the lake's shores are convoluted, the AquaDam® could not be started in a straight line along the path of the guide string. A rope was fastened to one of the tie straps on the top of the AquaDam®, and then secured to the bank in such a manner that the first 25' was held securely in place. |
| |
Once the AquaDam® had unrolled the proper distance away from the bank, it was turned by pulling on a rope tied to the wooden core until it was at the correct angle to intersect with the far shore. |
| |
Since there is no water flow of any kind in the lake, no ropes are needed to maintain head pressure inside the AquaDam®. It is simply allowed to unroll of its own accord as it fills. A second AquaDam® is dropped into the water so that it can easily be floated to the end of the installed AquaDam® once filling is complete. |
| |
The first AquaDam® continues to fill. |
