In a reservoir for the City of Willits, CA, a demonstration was held
for a five-county Public Works meeting. Over 100 participants viewed
this demonstration for emergency response and flood control applications.
The AquaDam® shown here is 2' high x 200' long, and was used to isolate
a small section of the lake shoreline.
This 2' high AquaDam® was holding back nearly 18 inches of water.
It took approximately 30 minutes to install with one 3 inch pump.
No equipment was used except for the pump. The AquaDam® was removed
from the back of a pickup manually, packed to the needed location,
and unrolled.
This is what 2 people were able to accomplish in a matter of minutes.
(One person standing behind the AquaDam® as it unrolled, the other
operating the pump.) A small but successful AquaDam® installation
isolating potential spill areas where speed and effectiveness are
critical in minimizing hazardous waste spills. Sandbagging would have
caused environmental damage from the workers moving sandbags.
