Sandbags were placed around two rigid 6" discharge pipes to prevent seepage underneath
the AquaDam® when the Columbia River rose. This prevented the water from flowing back
into the contaminated area. 6" discharge pipes traveled a mile up Fifteen Mile Creek to a
site above the accident. Water was pumped through the work area via the pipes.
The AquaDam® was placed in the lower part of the creek just below the confluence with the Columbia.
A sandbag dam was already in place, but was not high enough to control the high water anticipated when
the power plant generators resumed operating at normal capacity.
